Paul Crawford, EdD, ATC
Candidate for Secretary

Paul CrawfordPaul Crawford received his BS degree from the University of North Alabama in 1988, a Masters degree from University of West Alabama in 1990, and his EdD degree from Delta State University in 1999.  He has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1989.  Paul currently works in the secondary setting at Central High School in Florence, AL as a teacher and an athletic trainer.  Paul worked as a clinical athletic trainer for the former Healthsouth Corp, from 1996-2000.  He also served as Head Athletic Trainer in the collegiate setting at Delta State University from 1992-1996.  Prior to 1992, he served as graduate assistant athletic trainer at UT-Chattanooga for a year and also worked for a year for the North Alabama Sports Medicine Institute.  Paul is also currently serving as adjunct Instructor in HPER department at University of West Alabama.

Paul has served ALATA as the chair of the Scholarship Committee for several years and also served a term on the Executive Board as a Non-Officer Member.

Paul resides in Florence, AL with his wife, Dana, and two children, Caitlyn and Cayla Dee.

Ginger Gilmore, MS, ATC
Candidate for Secretary

Ginger Gilmore, MS, ATCGinger Gilmore has a wide-range of knowledge and experience in the sports medicine field, which can be found in her work with a variety of sports.  She joined the UA Sports Medicine staff in January 1996, where she worked with women's basketball (1996-98), baseball (1998-2006) and football (2007-present).  She is one of three full-time football athletic trainers on the current staff.

In addition to being the first full-time female football and baseball athletic trainer in Alabama history, Gilmore was also the first female student athletic trainer in the football program's storied history, working as a student trainer during the 1991 football season under head coach Gene Stallings.

She earned her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Alabama in 1992.  Gilmore earned her master's degree from Northwestern State University in 1994.  Upon graduation, she was named full-time athletic trainer at NSU, where she worked with football, baseball, and women's basketball from 1994 to 1995. She returned to Alabama in January of 1996.

Gilmore also has international experience, serving as an Athletic Trainer at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA as well as Athletic Trainer for Athletes in Action Tennis tour competing in the South of France.

Her professional awards include the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association "College and University Athletic Trainer of the Year" for 2003 and the "Distinguished Alumni Award" for the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the capstone, 2007.  She has also been invited as quest lecturer to the National Athletic Trainer's Association Annual National Symposium, the ASMI Injuries in Baseball Course, DCH Sports Medicine Symposium, and Southern Therapy Services Annual Symposium to name a few.

A native of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, Ms. Gilmore's immediate family endured the wrath of Hurricane Katrina.  As an unmatched act of kindness, members of the University of Alabama baseball team made the trip to Hancock County to aid in her family's recovery.  Their act of gracious servitude will not be forgotten.

Gilmore has recently returned from Niger, Africa where she was part of a mission trip sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ.  She also enjoys competing as an equestrian in Hunter/Jumper and Dressage horse shows.  She has one horse, named Fleur de Lis.

Only certified/licensed athletic trainer or licensed athletic trainer members of ALATA are eligible to vote.  Voting begins October 4, 2010 and closes October 18, 2010 at 10:59 PM CDT; if mailed, the ballot must be received by October 18, 2010.
