Call for Nominations for Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers

Please note that there will be a position vacancy on the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers effective 12/31/14.  In accordance with Section 34-40-3 of the Code of Alabama 1975 (the portion of the Athletic Trainers Licensure Act which stipulates Board composition by race and other factors), this position is to be held by a “Black” athletic trainer.  Nominations are limited to Alabama-licensed athletic trainers who meet the preceding criteria, are citizens of the United States, and have acted as athletic trainers for three years within this state immediately preceding appointment.  Only athletic trainers currently licensed by the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers are able to nominate a qualified athletic trainer meeting the above requirements, and only licensed athletic trainers are able to vote.  ALATA is conducting this election on behalf of the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers; therefore, please email your nominations to ALATA Secretary Paul Crawford at  If you are nominating someone, please provide their full name and their place of employment so that their eligibility and acceptance of the nomination can be verified.  Please provide your full name and Alabama license number as well.  Please email nominations by May 4,  2014.  Nominations will close on May 4, 2014, at midnight if at least one qualified person is nominated for this position.  ALATA reserves the right to reopen nominations only if one qualified person is not nominated for this position. Voting for this election will be held only during ALATA Town Hall Meeting on May 31  2014, at 11:00 AM in Birmingham, AL.  Eligible voters should make plans to attend.
